Happy New Year!

Hope you are seeing it in with friends, family and something fizzy!

Today I started the challenge in earnest, focussing on the upstairs bathroom. I had a good sort through the bathroom cupboard and discarded the half used pots of cream which were so old they were starting to split. I swapped some unopened cosmetics which I wasn't going to use and sorted through the towels ridding us of the hard, thread bare towels.

This has cleared the room no end and instead of a tallboy, two boxes and a hat box we now just have a tallboy.

And a very dirty floor which I need to mop tomorrow...

The all new cut the c*@p 100 day challenge!

Hi everyone,

I promised that I would start another 100 day challenge and as I revealed earlier in the week, the aim of this challenge is to become more organised and rid my home of clutter.

Now I don't want to sound "airy-fairy" but I think this clutter has a negative affect on my mental health. Some days (when I end up stuck in the house because my daughter is grouchy or the weather is terrible) I stare at the detritus around me and it feels like the walls are closing in. I get so irritated when I have lost the sat nav for the millionth time or when I look in the wardrobe and see a mish-mash of clothes none of which seem to suit me.

And lets not forget the waste, cupboards full of tins that I never use, beauty products that I opened, tried then didn't use again. Some things I haven't ever opened at all- you know what I mean, those 3 for 2 offers at certain large beauty stores...

So I aim to do one de-cluttering/organisational task per day, for the next 100 days. If you want to join me, we can try and help each other along with motivation, advice, recycling and swapping.

Step 1: Make a plan.

I decided to list the aims of my challenge and use them as a focus. Here they are:

1. Clean out the kitchen cupboards and get rid of out-of-date food, tupperware with no lids, excess dishes and utensils and cook books which are never used.

2. Buy (and put up!!) a key rack and notice boars to aid organisation.

3. Turn one of my (many) notebooks into an address book to save me scrolling back through my text messages to find friends addresses.

4. Sort out my little girls room so it's a fun room to be proud of rather than a dumping ground for all the junk we never got the chance to get rid of before I fell pregnant.

5. Sell or freecycle un-needed items such as the bookcase, old laptops, clothes, books etc.

6.Get rid of the old, hard (and in some cases bleach stained) towels that I never use. Ditto for threadbare sheets.

7. Stock up on stamps, greetings cards and wrapping paper so I am not caught out when my other half comes home and tells me "It's xxxx's birthday tomorrow, do we have a card?"

8. Make our house more organised by designating a place for everything and everything in its place.

9. Learn new skills so I can have fun and make original presents for friends and family.

So what do you think? Let me know if you have any ideas of your own. We start tomorrow!

Merry Christmas from Beautybellabellezza

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that right now you are happy, warm and having some time with the ones you care about. (If you are like me you will be watching the East Enders Xmas special!)

My day got off to a slow start, I have had gastric flu and spent most of the past few days in bed! But I am pleased to say (after a day of starving) that I managed a gorgeous Christmas dinner at my neighbours house!

True to form, my little girl was more interested in the wrapping than the presents! Thanks to everyone who has spoiled her rotten!

Of course, Christmas means the end of the 100 day Princessing challenge. But fear not- I have a brand new challenge which I will reveal tomorrow!

I am off to eat my weight in Thorntons now, lots of love to all!

The day in pictures: a Bucks Fizz Breakfast, retro sweets courtesy of my secret Santa and a gorgeous Lulu Guinness Hanbag- a gift from my partner and parents.

Carry on Christmas...

The countdown to Christmas is rolling on!

I have manage to write and post all of my cards, most of the presents are wrapped and today I enjoyed my first mulled wine (okay 2) of the season!

Very excited as the secret Santa draw took place today- my partner was confronted with a list of names and given responsibility for the draw!

Obviously I can't say what I will be buying, but I have got a few ideas!

The day was rounded off with slow cooked sweet and sour chicken followed by apple crumble and custard. Perfect!

My tree is bent (and other Christmas Dilemmas!)

Despite (several) adjustments to keep it in the metal holder purchased specifically for christmas trees, our tree is, once again, tilting like the leaning tower of Pisa. As my neighbour pointed out: "It doesn't really matter, no-one is walking past to see it."

Well yes, quite. But it's still irritating the hell out of me!

Today was our first "settling in" day at nursery where I actually left my daughter alone. I probably looked like a bad mum but after a night of her teething and grumping I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I spent the 2 hour break doing two loads of washing and tidying up in the house (I really wanted to do my nails but thought that might look a bit bad!)

Our Christmas preparations are well underway but I have run out of Christmas cards (oops!) and remembered a couple of people who I haven't yet bought gifts for (doh!).

I should be addressing these issues but instead I have found myself some new day-time trash to watch on tv. It's called Storage Hoarders and you will find it on ITV at 2pm. I'll outline the "plot"- that woman from Kim and Aggie (Aggie I think) helps hoarders clear out their storage units into piles: keep, sell, skip and charity. They then flog said "treasures" and at the end of the programme we are told how much of the storage costs have been re-couped by the selling process. Pure and utter junk but perfect for those of us who are a) Nosy about other peoples things. b) Procrastinating about their own clutter.

Tonight we are having some friends over for a catch up but I am refusing to cook- it's Chinese food or nothing!

Today's pictures are the tilting tree (with "spaceship effect lights" thanks Julie!) and two glass ornaments that I bought for "Baby's first Christmas!"

Countdown to Christmas!

Having had my partner at home all week, you would think I'd have Christmas pretty much wrapped up, right?!

Wrong...we did finally manage to buy a tree today but there's still a mountain of presents to be wrapped, cards to be posted and food to be purchased. That said we had a great time decorating the tree while listening to Christmas music on the iPod. My particular favourite (The Pogues if you want to know) featured on the play list along with the classic Samta Baby.

I am in on my own tonight as its my
Partners works Christmas night out-I can only hope he isn't too ill tomorrow (as he has agreed to babysit for part of the day!)

My plan was to have dinner (homemade soup) wrap some gifts and write some cards. Instead, I didn't eat until after 9pm (my little one wouldn't settle so I spent around an hour walking up and downstairs every 5 minutes). By this point my motivation was gone so I painted my nails instead.

Then one of my friends popped round (with a bottle of red wine) and we had a "fashion show" as we tried to choose an outfit for a wedding she is attending tomorrow.

All in all a lovely day but perhaps not the most productive!

I am officially a lapsed princess...

In the midst of colds, teething, vomiting bug and sleepless nights, I really have let go of the Princessing challenge lately.

I haven't taken my vitamins in nearly 2 weeks, have spent more time sitting down than exercising, my nails are chipped and messy and I haven't applied body moisturiser for weeks.

The worst is that I have gained about 4kg- and it's not even Christmas yet!

So what am I going to do? Ask you to pass me the Quality Street as I stare at my rhino like feet? Oh no...I am going to give the challenge a final push in the run up to Christmas.

Today I have slathered on body cream and foot cream. I am going to apply a face mask before bed and paint my nails.

Tomorrow I think I will head to town and get my eyebrows threaded and may even consider changing my hair colour!

I am keeping track of my calorie intake using the Myfitnesspal app and hope to lose some inches soon!
